![]() It’s an irreversible act, as Caesar was said to have said, “The die is cast.” The idiom “crossing the Rubicon” is irrevocable. That point, being the point, of crossing the Rubicon – the point of no return! How can you return to the point of no return? My orientation skills aren’t what they were, but wouldn’t that put you back on the other side of the Rubicon before you crossed it? You’d need to cross the Rubicon three times to be back to the point you were at when you first crossed over. On the Fox network, histrionics were led by Mark Levin, who wailed the Rubicon had been crossed not once, but twice. In the last few days we’ve witnessed right-wing, hard-men blubbering up, eyes filling with tears, GOP senators fumbling for words to defend the indefensible, and partisan pundits screaming their hearts out about the dastardly tricks of the demonic democrats.
